Raetihi pool design adopted

After seven years of dediicated fund-raising Chills Off now has $65,000 invested and the committee have now decided to make applications for grants and additional funding for their project to cover the Raetihi pool. "During the last seven years the committee have visited other enclosed swimming pools and have accumulated a wealth of knowledge^ as to the type of structure, costings, maintenance and possible teething problems," said chairman Lance Langdon.

At a special meeting last Wednesday the committee adopted in principle a design submitted by Boral Acrow Limited of Auckland and have commissioned them to prepare working drawings in consultation with architects and engineers. The company will also produce a scale model of the complex. A firm costing has been received for the building and at $180,000, the committee is confident that this is well within reach and are anticipating positive responses from funding applications, said Mr

Langdon. "Details of the proposed structure will be made available in the next three weeks once some technical details have been resolved." The committee are confident that the Waimarino will have the > most cost effective, practicable and maintenancefree building that current building methods and materials allow.
