Hui to talk on forestry scheme

Tamaupoko will be holding its monthly hui at Tirorangi Pa, Karioi, on 18 November. The hui will discuss reports from its sub-committees. Of special interest will be korero (discussions)
on the prioritisation of Maccess Modules and a proposed pilot forestry scheme that has come out of discussions with local iwi, district councils, Tasman Afforestation and Task Force Green. There will also be korero on the
Whanganui River Maori Trust Board hui held last Saturday at Para weka, Pipiriki. The issue of resource management in regards to metal extraction and other land and water take will also come up.
The last two Tamaupoko hui have discussed the future of the trust which could be "in imminent danger of collapse" according to one sub-committee report. The Maraes within the
Tamaupoko rohe are Raketepauma, Waiouru, Tirorangi, Maungarongo, Mangamingi, Toanui, Te Puke, Motekatoa, Waitahuparae, Papatupu, Pareweka, Patiarero, Ruaka and Matahiwi.
Over the last few months the Waho whanau have been hard at work renovating Tirorangi Pa and they are at present hard at work preparing Tirorangi for the Tamupoko hui.
