Photographic journey for museum folk

The eighteen members who attended the Annual General meeting of the Waimarino Museum Society enjoyed a photographic joumey down the Whanganui river from its source to the sea. The speaker, Arthur P Bates, gave an informed talk about the history, both Maori and pakeha on the river and illustrated it with excellent slide photography. The annual report indicated that the museum in Seddon St, Raetihi, continues to attract visitors from many parts of the world. New acquisitions are being added from time to time, a pair of wooden skis being the most recent. Officers elected were as follows: Patron, P Voelkerling; President, W Journeaux; Vice-presi-dent; I Penny; Secretary, M Sommerville, Treasurer: D McNie. Scarrow, J P Sommerville. The museum is opcn on Sundays from 2 to 4pm and on request by phoning 3854649 or 3854-200.
