• Police were called to Rangataua at around midnight on Sunday when shots were fired near a house there. Police said they subsequently spoke to a man about shooting possums too close to dwellings. • On Friday night a man left his ski boots outside his house in Railway Row, retuming later to take them inside to find they had been stolen. • A mountain bike was taken from outside Cafe Loco on Friday night. Police later found the bike at the back of a Thames St licensed premises. • A house in Ayr Street was burgled between Wednesday and Saturday. Police are waiting to hear from the owners as to what has been taken. • A chainsaw was taken from a barn in Ruapehu Road on the weekend. • A search and rescue mission was about to be mounted at about 9.30pm Sunday night, when the subject, a 40 year-old woman, walked out of the Waitonga Falls Track. Police said there seemed to be a misunderstanding about plans among members of the tramping party.
