On Sunday 27 September the Ohakune Volunteer Fire Brigade responded to a fire at the Parklands Restaurant at 1 .05pm. The fire was in a room at the rear of the restaurant, in a vat. Two fire appliances attended and extinguished the blaze. There was some damage to the vat and electrical wiring but no structural damage.
