Bearded men challenged
by David of the RIC One hundred years ago, no man was seen without a beard of some sort - and the Cosmopolitan Club of Raetihi plans that the fashion returns for the Raetihi centennial, by sponsoring a beard competition! The event will have
two classes, a members class and an open section for others, with the chance to win in five ways; for longest beard, most colourful growth, best and worst overall and the neatest presented. Progress will be checked at various functions through the contest and the final judging will take place with the cen-
tennial celebrations in February. If you think you are the "ZZ Topp" beard - grower in the region, take your starting face, clean-shaven, to the Cosmopolitan Club from 10 to 17 October to register. No word on prizes, but after-shave just might be included!
