"It's cool in the furnace"

A good crowd on both nights enjoyed the family musical "It's Cool In The Furnace". This was presented in drama, music and dancing by members of the Baptist Church, in the Raetihi School Hall on 22 and 23 August. It is based on the story found in the Bible, in the book of Daniel. It is 600 BC, in the nation of Judeah, part of ancient Israel, which had been taken over by the Babylonians and its people taken captives. The cast of about 50 people had worked very hard at rehearsals for six weeks prior to the show and presented a very good musical. The presentation of this was part of the dedication of the new extensions and renovations at the rear of the Baptist Church. These alterations will make the building more multi purpose. The Church, which was formerly the Salvation Army Hall is 70 years old. About 44 past Raetihi residents returned for this weekend, which also included a dinner
