Restaurant Review Alpine Wine Bar

Mrs Foodie With Mr Foodie busy at work, I decided it was a perfect opportunity to get 'the girls" together for a meal out. We, being of large appetites and fond of good food, decided on Franz's Alpine Wine Bar & Restaurant in Clyde St, Ohakune. After a pre dinner drink upstairs in the bar to set us in the mood for dinner we moved down to our table by the fire. We chose a bottle of Vidals Fume Blanc to sip on whilst catching up on gossip. Our waitress, Nicki, introduced herself and advised us of the specials. Gossip aside we got down to choosing our meal! Pasta was the entree choice for me and my first guest Piglet, while Miss Piggy chose deep fried camembert. All entreeswere plentiful and delicious. With just theright amountof time to savour our wine, our main meals arrived. Mrs Foodie's rack of lamb special wasdivine melt-in -the- mouth, the fillet mignon choice of Miss

Piggy was cooked perfectly and piled up with bacon & mushrooms. Piglet's beef schnitzel dish was delicious. Our meals came with fresh vegetables & potatoes or a choice of the salad bar. The mains were beautifully presented and very generous; in fact Miss Piggy & Piglet had to ask for doggy bags, their first time ever! Suprisingly we did have room for dessert, and shared a chocolate mousse and a banana fritter which were scrumptious. As a finale to a great meal we finished with special coffees. Our waitress deserves a mention here, she was very helpful but unobtrusive, an excellent job, all the stafflooked smartin their black & red outfits. The Alpine wine Bar & Restaurant serves great food and combined with its excellent atmosphere is highly recommended by Mrs Foodie, Miss Piggy & Piglet (they dared me to use their pen names)
