The National Park Volunteer Fire Brigade are having an 'Open Day' this weekend 5 and 6 I September. The day starts at 12 noon on Saturday and there will be displays throughout the day. The firefighters will be at the Fire Station if anyone has any questions on fire safety etc. The National Park brigade had two fire calls this month: one motor vehicle accident and one false alarm.

The Raetihi brigade responded to a motor vehicle accident on Friday 28 August at Horopito. Three cars and a truck were involved. Three people were taken to Raetihi hospital following the accident but none appeared to be seriously injured. The Raetihi brigade attended about three calls this month. The Ohakune brigade attended five calls for the month of August: one petrol spillage, one rescue and three motor vehicle accidents.
