Mangapurua
• We would have thought that when local authorities (with clout), such as the Stratford District Council and Tourism Taranaki slapped
the Taranaki-Wanganui Conservation Board on the knuckles for its stand against including the Whanganui River in the premier track system that the urchin would shut up and go to sleep. Not so; After having reluctantly bowed to the true wishes of the people it raises its voice with a last despairing cry of authority: "Papa DoC, We must convert the Mangapurua public road into National Park as quickly as possible!" 'Papa DoC' flies to his feet instantly and soundly spanks its brat. "Much more of your nonsense and the both of us won't have a bed to sleep in!" 'Papa Doc' and the brat retire nary a sound is heard.
