On Friday 31 July the Ohakune Volunteer Fire Brigade were called to a petrol spillage outside the Ohakune Hotel. Two fire appliances attended and washed down the road. This brings the number of calls the brigade attended in July to 9. On Saturday 1 August the brigade attended a call on the Mountain Road. A Landrover had left the road. Two fire appliances attended but were not required. The Rescue Vehicle was also called into service on Saturday night to provide lighting for a search and rescue on the mountain.
