Bridge

On Wednesday 15 July 24 bridge players from throughout the central districts met in the restaurant in the Waiouru swimming baths complex for a Thai meal and to participate in some social games of bridge. After the meal, 22 boards were played in a variation of the Howell movement. Each Ohakune member was paired up with a visiting player and the winners for the evening were Tani Blackburn and Dulcie Gardiner (Tur), with 63.63%. Sandra Eades teamed up with A Kelly of Taihape and they scored 56.81% to take second place. The Cranston boys Jim from Ohakune and Gerry from Taihape, joined forces and secured third place with 54.99%. Colin Cox and D Flack (Tpe) scored 51.81% to take fifth place. On Sunday 26 July the Ohakune Bridge Club will be hosting more visitors when they hold their annual winter picnic tournament.
