Stand-by at the ready
BYRIC Stand-by is a committee small in number, but commitment to their task has ensured smooth running. At their annual general meeting held 15 July, president- Dorothy Scarrow said Stand-by continues to fill a need in the Waimarino. It has been fortunate in the calibre of its eight helpers. They have given 23 visits of assistance in Raetihi and Ohakune in the past year for a wide range of age groups, ranging from a mother with small infants, through to elderly support. Special assistance was given, with spring cleaning at the pensioners' flats. Requests for Stand-by help have come from all sections of the community, some through the Home-Care Co-ordinator Services for the elderly and seven requests from ACC. Elected officers are: Patron Godfrey Harvey; President Dorothy Scarrow; Secretary Noeline Bishop; Treasurer Pat Olds; Committee: Rae Martin, Shirley McDonough, Janet Griffiths, Cynthia Owen. Booking officers: Rae Martin and Dorothy Scarrow.
