Badminton report
Wanganui Residentials for the B Grade were played on Sunday 28 June. Teams were mainly from Wanganui and Ohakune. Marie Cranston, Elayne Weller, Jenny Finlay, Ned Wanoa and Brent Palmer represented the Ohakune club in B Grade. Elayne Weller was Ladies Singles Champ and Marie Cranston was runner-up. Ned Wanoa was Mens Singles Champ. Marie and Elayne won the Ladies Doubles Champs with Elayne and Ned winning the combines Champs. It was a most enjoyable day. A Grade was also being played with some very close games from the top of the Wanganui Club. Tournaments coming up are: A reserve, C and D Grades Sunday 26 July, Wanganui B and C Grades 1 August. Marton. Under 14,16 and 18 age groups 17 - 19 July, Badminton Hall, Wellington.
(Junior) interregional badminton results
Wanganui hosted their annual division 1 Junior tournament on 27 June. Teams were submitted from all over the region including Palmerston North, Levin, Turangi, Ohakune and Wanganui. Raylene King, Stacy Cranston and Lindsay Cast represented the Ohakune area in the 14-
16 yrs section. The competition was particularly strong with several of the regions players having represented NZ in Australia. Despite this our local players did fairly well, particularly in the singles section with some very close games played. Stacy Cranston did well to win the plate round. Wanganui took the majority of placings.
