College soccer

Ruapehu College played Collegiate . Juniors at Wanganui Collegiate on Saturday. Right from the onset Ruapehu were clearly going to be dominant. More so than their earlier games they confidently held possession, passing the ball sideways and back to supporting players with ease. A half-time score of 40 in their favour could easily have been much higher. A big deterioration in the weather shortly after the start of the second half saw the game stop for five minutes when rain was so heavy the players were unable to i see ahead of themselves. The cold wet conditions seemed to dampen the finishing ability with only two further goals for Ruapehu. Credit goes to the Collegiate keeper who made some outstanding saves. Once again the Ru1 apehu defence was strong with Nathan Swain awarded player of the match for his efforts in defence. The final score was 6-0. Goal scorers: Caleb Tumataroa (2), Aeneas O'Sullivan (2), Avinesh Sharma (1), Andrew Murdie (1).

Nathan Swain and Caleb Tumataroa have both been selected for the Wanganui Under-16 representative side and Glen Marriott for the Under-15's. Both teams played their first representative games on Sunday against Horowhenua teams.
