Raetihi axemens revival goes well
BY

Keen interest was shown in the wood chopping day held at Raetihi recently. About 40 people attended this practise day held 31 May. Two experienced choppers, Ken Prince and Lou Williams, were on hand to show keen ones, including two women, how to go about competitive chopping. There were also visitors from Taumarunui, Mananui, Palmerston North land Wanganui. Organiser Mike Chay-
tor was very pleased with the way the day went. "Some of these people have good potential if they stick with this sport," he said. More practise days will be held from the end of June, with wood sawing incorporated, and an axemens' club is to be formed. Ricky Vaughan and Sheryl Journeaux were kept busy with the bar-be-cue keeping every one fed. Mike said thank you to the other women who donated salads.
