Ode to a rubbish collection

BY

BEA

BARNES

• I had a little note from Mr Houston, just to say an 'Inorganic Collection' would be made next rubbish day. An 'Inorganic Collection', just what the Hell is that? I'll go and check my dictionary they'll have the answer pat. Organic: 'with vital organs' not too much help from that. 'Derived or made from living things' Ah! Now we are on track. I'd better check my rubbish bag to see it's all OK and that no organic nasties have crept in along the way. I'll divide it rnto separate piles that's the best thing to do, organic matter in pile one inorganic in pile two. Some paper bags, a piece of string

a dried half eaten bun, a wooden skewer from the meat you all go on pile one. Some human hair, used envelopes, three empty cardboard packs, potato peelings, mouldy cheese, some worn out cotton slacks. A heap of unwanted junk mail the pile is now so high a right good bonfire I have made I'm just short of the Guy. A broken jug, old panty-hose, a dried up tube of glue, some empty bottles and glass jars, an empty can or two. The broken glass securely wrapped now look what I have done I've wrapped it in 'The Bulletin' which should go on pile one. I think I'Ve just come to the end and pile two can go back into the Council issue of AN ORGANIC PAPER SACK???
