Tumblers host competition

Waimarino 's Turoa Tumblers are holding an inter-club gymnastics competition at Ruapehu College and Community Gymnasium on Saturday 23 May. Gymnasts from Wanganui, Palmerston North and Feilding are coming to compete with their Ohakune rivals for individual medals and team awards. The public are especially invited to

watch the top local gymnats in this competition, starting 9.15am. Recent results The first competition for Turoa Tumblers, held recently was very successful for all levels and grades. Boys grade nine Dwayne Marsh won a gold medal and qualified to go to grade eight. He also received first placings on floor, rings,

vault, horizontal bar and a third equal on parallel bar. Josh Goddard was awarded a second on floor; and Cory Saunders, in his first competition, a third on rings. The team of Cory Saunders, Stephen Sue (also a new member) and Josh Goddard took third team, with Reece Morrissey, Brian Hays and Dwayne Marsh receiving a second team medal. Boys Grade seven saw Andrew Murdie with a gold medal, and first on all apparatus. Scott Nation silver medal with a second on floor, vault, parallel bars and third on mushroom, rings, horizontal bar. John Hays received the bronze medal with second on mushroom, rings, horizontal bar and third on floor, vault and parallel bars. A very good effort from all boys.

Girls level three saw the team of Fiona Lynch, in her first competition. Nolana Marsh, Cassie Nation and Rebecca Lind receiving a 3rd team medal.Rebecca Lind also received second equal on floor and Nolana Marsh a third on bar. Level four girls Eileen Voon and> Sarah Lind competed very well to make a good start for the year. Shelly Gotlieb received a third placing in 5th rotation and Jenny Murdie a first on beam with Katrina Marsh in level five for the first time just missing out on receiving the bronze medal. In level six Denise Waarea achieved a first on beam, third on vault; Kerri Allerby a first in 5th rotation, and Kelly Swain received the gold medal with a second on beam and bar and a third in 5th rotation. The three girls also received the team gold medal. The club sees this as a very good result from all children who competed. They feel that the new track suits look very smart on all gymnasts and coaches, and wish to thank all their sponsors..
