Ruapehu rates to drop--mostly in the north
Rates may drop in the Ruapehu District, following a good year for the council, but they may decrease by more in the northem wards than in the south. This is because estimates for roading work in the north have dropped by a figure between $200,000 and $300,000, said Ruapehu Mayor Garrick Workman. He said with the differential roading rate, if savings were made in roading in one area, the benefits should go to that area. Mr Workman said the council' s rate take looks set to drop a little in the south too, because there had been efficiencies gained in all council activities. The council meets to discuss its annual plan, which includes its expenditure for 1992-93, this Friday.
