Mangapurua access discussion

The Whanganui National Park Board is to attend a Waimarino Community Board meeting to discuss access into the Mangapurua Valley, in the national park. The WCB was told this at their meeting last week. The community board has discussed access to the valley at a number of meetings, following local discontent with the way the Department of Conservation was restricting access. Some local hunters want to be able to take their motorbikes and horses into the valley,

for hunting expeditions, but the department has blocked all but foot access. Board member Winston Oliver suggested the local deerstalkers also be invited to the meeting. — — —
