Fire service honoured

Neil McLean and Ken Summerhays from Raetihi and James Ennis from Ohakune recently

travelled to Wanganui, joining 36 other firemen from around the region including Otaki in the South, and the

Waimarino in the North to be presented with their 14-year long service and good conduct medals.

Also presented with his was Robert Dowman, who did his 14 years' service with the Raetihi Fire Brigade, but who now lives in Wanganui. The medals, given on behalf of the Queen, were presented by Kerry Everson, Deputy National Commander of the New Zealand Fire Service. This ceremony, which was held at the Wanganui fire station, was attended by the mayors of the towns, including Ruapehu Mayor Garrick Workman.
