Ruapehu rubbish recycling researched
A working party is to be set up to study recycling possibilities in the Ruapehu District. The council agreed at their meeting last Friday, to: • Establish a work-
ing party to co-ordinate the development of a District wide recycling programme and the development of a district recycling plan. • Interested groups involved in such a
working party be invited to nominate a representative or representatives to take part in such a working party. • Representatives of the working party be made up of two elected
members of council, two staff members, and one person from each urban area. • Funding provision be made in the 1992/93 Annual Plan for the working party, and that
clauses (above) be conditional on the approval of funding. The council was told that the Army Training Group in Waiouru was already operating its Turnpage 2
Recycling
From page 1 own recycling programme and may be able to assist the council in implementing a district wide programme. As an example, all plastics collected would be sent to Palmerston North via Waiouru, and all glass could be forwarded to AHI via Taumarunui. "This recycling initiative is in line with the objectives of the Resource Management Act and would no doubt be encouraged by the Regional Council," said technical services director Bruce Dobson in his, report.
