The injury was linked to a recurring back problem. At 4pm on Tuesday a 57 year old man was flown to Wanganui by the WRT helicopter with a cut left arm, following a chainsaw accident at Retaruke. Raetihi volunteer fire fighters were called to the Raetihi recreation grounds at 3.39am on Wednesday morning last ^ week to provide lighting ( for a helicopter. I The aircraft was arriving from Wellington to pick up a patient for an emergency transfer to Wellington. The patient was a premature baby born at Waimarino Hospital. Staff at the hospital faced communication problems with the Westpac helicopter, which took much longer than expected to make the trip up from Wellington. Low cloud had forced it to land at Bulls, which put it out of range of communication. Local Bulls police had to be called to locate the helicopter for further instructions.
