Brave Raetihi diver wins bronze
Raetihi diver, Kerri Allerby's parents arrived just in time to see their daughter win Bronze in the age group National Championships in Christchurch recently. Kerri, 11, who is in her third year of diving, qualified for the competition for the second time. Last year Kerri

On Saturday she dived from the three metre board and consistent efforts saw her obtain a Bronze medal. Her parents, Gary and Marie, had trouble with cancelled flights at Palmerston North. Marie managed to get on a flight to get her to the event a few hours before the competition and Gary followed on a later flight arriving just minutes before his daughter win bronze. Sunday morning was the platform competition in which Kerri had to do six different dives. During her third dive, a back dive, straight,
Kerri clipped the tower with her heels and landed on the side of her leg from five metres up. Having had ice treatment she decided to carry on with great courage and support form the spectators, and came in for a fourth place finish. The one metre was that afternoon and Kerri came ninth. Jessie Pope, who was also in her third year of diving, qualified for the first time on the one metre board. Jessie dived a personal best for 15 place. Tina Mott was a first time qualifier in the one metre and tower. Tina dived just below her best in what was the biggest age group and was pleased with her seventh place on the tower.
