Depot Burgled

Selective burglars were busy on the night of 17 March when they broke into the Ruapehu District Council Depot Parapara Road Raetihi. Depot clerk Eric Pasquill said it seemed the burglars knew what they wanted and where to get it. The loss could amount to $10,000 to $15,000, he said. Five sheds were broken into and items taken included the chainsaws, chemicals, tools, two base radio sets, taken from the office and two spare telephone radio sets. Several vehicles were tampered with and the dash of one vehicle was damaged when they were getting the driver's personal radio cassette out.
