New horizons for AGI manager

BY

JO

(HOWIE

Ray Blackmore, Manager of the Army Garrison Institution (AGI) is due to resign at the end of the month, to seek his fortune in Australia. Ray and his wife Kathie have decided to live and work in Brisbane where two of their children have settled. Ray said he and his wife think it is important to keep the family together. He has lived in Waiouru for 18 months and has served with the AGI for 18 years. The AGI provides a service to the Armed Forces, with all profit going into the welfare system and to community sponsorship. He said the AGI turnover has been good, although he has noticed customers disposable income is less. He said at one stage there was a problem with shop lifters, but since the introduction of a security system of tagging clothes, this had lessened.

Ray said the reason for the AGI's success has been the loyalty of the staff and the Waiouru people. He said he would like to thank his 38 part-time and full-time staff and his four hard working managers, responsible for the AGI, the Green Bottle, the cafeteria, the Junior ranks and sports bar and the Four Square Discounter. "I hope my staff show the same support to the incoming manager, John Peden from Papakura, as they have to me," Ray said.
