Plans for Waiouru toilets

Queucs of up to 20 people outside Waiouru 's public toilets may soon be a thing of the past. The Waiouru Community Board has included plans for an extension to the public toilets in their submission to the Ruapehu District Council's Annual Plan. Concerns of the board that such a project would

see Waiouru rates rise were allayed when area manager Don Sattler said the funds for such a project would come from the general rate. Mr Sattler said the toilets were kept spotless but that a lot of work was needed to do this, and that the board should consider asking them to be upgraded or extended.

Other items on their wish list included: piping and covering drains in Ngauruhoe Street and draining the Waiouru subdivision which is overgrown and clogged with silt. A new footpath, walkway, community taskforce clearing and tree planting, and sealing 80m of footpath in the town are also included.
