Local stock firm uses yards
Waimarino Livestock has joined Elders Pastoral and Wrightson at the Raetihi Sale Yards, after over three years of negotiations. The small, locally owned company has been selling stock from various sites on farms around the Waimarino because they could not reach agreement with the other two stock firms over their share of the yards. The company has struck a verbal agreement with the two national companies over use of the yards, and further negotiations will take place regarding Waimarino Livestock' s purchase of a share of the yards. Once this is achieved the company will be able to operate at the yard's regular scheduled saies. Co-o wner of Waimarino Livestock, Bernice Frost, said they were pleased to operate at the yards whether on a temporary or a permanent arrangement. The move is seen as beneficial to farmers, with an increased number of stock on offer at the yards a larger number of buyers would be attracted.
