Some dumps may close
Ruapehu District faces a possible major overhaul of its rubbish dumps, with some forced to close. The council must apply for discharge rights for its dump sites and some may not measure
up, council chief executive Cliff Houston told the Waimarino Community Board at their last meeting. He said a thorough investigation was needed, and that gaining consent to operate some dumps would be impossible.
