Community boards to remain

Ruapehu Districl Community boards look set to be retained. Mayor Garrick Workman announced yesterday that he would not be presenting a case to the Local Government Commission today (as scheduled) for the Council to be able to scrap the boards. He said he has detected a change of heart among most councillors and so is to take the matter back to full council for further debate. He said it seemed the public had perceived the idea of scrapping the boards as undemocratic.
