Railway house sales on hold

Eight railway houses in Railway Row, Ohakune Junction, have been taken off the markct following the lodging of a general Maori land claim to ihe Waitangi Tribunal on all surplus Railways land. The houses wero among 13 that wcrc movcd to the re-developed subdivision fforn thcir original sites at Taihape. The other seven houses wcre sold prior to the claim being made and thosc saies will be completcd. Work on the devclopmcnt, including work on the houses themselves to make them habitable, will be completcd in the meantime, said Rail Property representative Robert Lintiman. He said the houses may be lct over winter, depending on progress with the refurbishmcnt and with the claim.
