Double steam train visit next month

Two steam trains with a total of about 1200 vintage car enthusiasts as passengers will visit the Waimarino next month. Steam Incorporated from Paekakariki, near Wellington, is organising the excursion as part of the Pan Pacific Vintage Car Rally with mostly American vintage car enthusiasts as participants. The trains will travel from Palmerston North to Horopito where the visitors will discmbark and visit Horopito Motors, world renowned for their "supermarket" of vintage car parts, espccially from American vehicles. Whilc the passengers are at Horopito the engines will revcrse back to Ohakune to be watered by ihe Ohakune Volunteer Fire Brigade. They will then travel back to Horopito, pick up the carriages and carry on to Taumarunui where the engines will be turned. From there they will return to Palmerston North, via the Main Trunk Line again.
