Raetihi information Centre branches out
Raetihi's Information Centre is taking bold measures to ensure that its activities are selffunding. A team of 14 volunteers, guided by co-ordinator Lance Langdon, are currently considering many ideas to bring in income to meet standing operating costs, power, phone, stationery etc. Rather than only providing information to visitors it is intended to make the Centre a place where locals, individuals, organisations and businesses can promote their crafts, clubs, wares and services. The Centre is now providing Raetihi reporting services for the Ruapehu Bulletin in return for donations to the Centre based on the volume of news presented for publication. Raetihi people are urged to contact the centre for news coverage of Raetihi events. For those looking for reading material a Book
Exchange is now operating. It is also planned to have on display various craft and art exhibitions, the first being the work of Jerry Hiroti which is currently on display. Other suggestions being considered include: a community diary; weekly individual shop or business promotion;
club of the week/month; casual labour pool (green dollar trading). To help the Centre continue, support is required from locals and we are currently looking for flags of any description, news, views, ideas and volunteers. Anyone who can assist is asked to call in at the Centre.
