Ruapehu College student Tui Allan from the Diane Devane School of Dance has been accepted by the Bay of Plenty Performing Arts Academy next year. Tui was one of 12 performers to be accepted for the full time year at the Academy. With hundreds of other applicants, she auditioned in front of the director of the Academy, Peter Edwards. Tui said she is delighted to have been accepted and looks forward to learning a mixture of drama, contemporary and classical dance. Her ambition is to audition for the New Zealand School of Dance next year. She loves performing modern dance and American jazz which she has learnt for three years in Ohakune. This year she was taught classical ballet by Diane Devane in Waiouru in order to qualify for an audition for the Academy. Last weekend many residents were able to enjoy Tui's dance talent during Diane Devane dance recital. Twentyfive of Diane's students from Taihape, Waiouru, Ohakune and Raetihi participated in this recital. Diane said Tui has a lot of natural flair and grace and was thrilled she was accepted. Diane said she thought Tui had a great future ahead of her.
