Ohakune bridge

A maximum of eighteen boards were played on the last night of the mixed-pairs competition

on Wednesday 2 October, but as there was an uneven number of teams the east-west pairs only played fifteen boards. The pairs were arranged so that the more senior players sat northsouth and the less experienced players sat eastwest. Tani Blackburn and Rita Kaiwhare continued their success of last week to take the northsouth competition with 61.11% of a maximum 144 points. Second place went to Brian Eades and Ron Martin with 54.86%. The east-west competition was won by Jenny Mottram and Colin Cox who scored 60.83% of a possible 120 points. Jim Cranston and Glenda Whale were seven points behind to take second place with 55%. The winners of the mixed-pairs competition will be published next week.
