Plunket appeal helps Karitane service

The Karatane nurse service is partly funded from the annual Plunket appeal which takes place this month. Waimarino Karatane nurse Lesley Proude is available and willing to help all mothers of babies and children under five. She will visit a mother's home and help with breast and bottle feeding problems, weaning and solids,

behaviour and sleeping problems, multiple births, when there is sickness and hospitalisation in the family, and to give time out for mothers. Her main role is to be concerned with the continued good health and well being of mothers and babies. Other areas where Leslie is able to help include: with support where there is a child with special needs, by caring for the child and thus give the mother a break, or caring for other children while the mother spends time with the child; a contact for new families moving into the Waimarino who do not know anyone. The service is free to users but donations to the Ohakune or Raetihi Plunket committees are much appreciated. More information is available from Carole Harford, 54 395, or Leslie Proude, 54 048.
