Community learning week soon
"Through life there is learning, through learning there is life," is the theme for Community Learning Week. The national Community Learning Week announced by the New Zealand Association of Community and Continuing Education (NZACCE) runs from 1418 October and is to promote the learning opportunities available in the community. This spans a wide range of activities including adult education, self and skill development programmes to meet specific needs such as volunteer training, leisure and pleasure activities. The Taihape/Ruapehu Rural Education Activities Programme (REAP) is co-ordinating activities within the region with display days in Ohakune, Raetihi, Waiouru and Taihape. Each town will have a day focusing on a wide range of community learning opportunities available locally for people from 0-100. During the week the Ohakune Kindergarten and the Raetihi Playcentre will be holding open days for people to look and learn, as well as contributing art work. On Monday 14 October there will be display s by many groups at Ohakune in the shop next to the Bank of New
Zealand, on Tuesday at Raetihi in the old Post Office, Wednesday at Waiouru at Community House and at T aihape in the REAP rooms on Friday. Groups involved with community learning are being encouraged to take part with displays or activities.
