Raetihi works further delayed

Although AFFCO have withdrawn their objection to the Raetihi town planning scheme change which will allow the establishment of a meat processing plant, the cotmcil must still hold a second hearing. Councillors were told last week that council had been given legal advice that in order to comply with the Planning Tribunal Order, it is necessary to reconsider the submissions of any party to the change. The evidence of the remaining objector, Transit New Zealand and any cross objector or supporter, must be considered at a hearing, said the council general manager in his report to council. The council will hold its second hearing on 8 November.
