The second round of the four week mixedpairs competition was held on Wednesday 18 September. A total of twenty-four boards were played, each board worth a maximum of ten points. First place in the North-South direction was won by Tracy Ennis and Les Burns with 63.33% while second place went to Tani Blackburn and Rita Kaiwhare with 55.83%. Visitors from Kerikeri, Lloyd and Arlene Purdy took first place in the East-West direction with 67.50% and Brian Eades and Ron Frew scored 60.42% to take second I place.
