Turoa emergency plan on board agenda
Waimarino's Community Board meets this Thursday, and on the agenda is Turoa' s evacuation/emergency plans. The last item on the agenda is a report on the civil defence officer's dealings with Turoa Ski Resort on the Turoa emergency plan. The report states that Turoa general manager Angus Grimwade has assured the civil defence officer that the company does in fact have an emergency plan and that it is lodged with the Department of Conservation. Mr Grimwade has been asked to forward copies of the plan to the Council but that, (at the time of the report) no reply had been received. "Mr Grimwade felt that the publicity (that Turoa was assumed to have no such plan) was unfair and has done some damage to the Company 's image," states the report. "The civil defence officer, therefore, advised Mr Grimwade that if it is ascertained that Turoa Skifield does have Emergency Plans, the
Council is prepared to provide a public apology," concludes the report. A final report on the new Rangataua Sewerage System will be presented, outlining the operating difficulties suffered with the system, the reasons for the problems, the remedial
work carried out and the present state of the works. The Board is to be presented a report on the Rangataua military exercise which is to be run from 14 to 18 November, along similar lines to one run at the same time last year.
