Housing Corp getting tough
The Housing Corporation has got tough with clients who are in arrears, and have begun holding l.iortgagee saies of properties. One house in Raetihi was sold earlier this month and several others afound the Wanganui area were also sold. "These saies are as a result of the Corporation getting to the end of the line with some of its mortgagors who have no
real interest in retaining their homes," said mortgage manager Paul Glenny. He said the corporation would continue to work actively with clients who were prepared to give their housing commitments "highest priority artd who had a genuine desire to keep a roof over their family's heads." On top of the seven saies to date, a further 20 are possible this financial year, he said. "If a client wishes > to retain their home (but are having difficulties) they should make urgent contact with the corporation and not just hope that things will come right," he said.
