Presbyterian Church visit

The Very Reverend John Murray and his wife Shirley, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa, New Zealand, shared a luncheon with members

of the Waimarino Parish last Saturday at the Ohakune Hall. He said he was very heartened by the upgrading of the Ohakune church and the Raetihi hall and the Clean up of the rear section at Ohakune. Reverend Murray was Moderator of the Waimarino Church in 1959 when he was minister at Taihape for 5&1/2 years. He conducted two weddings at that time of two well known local identities. The Parish is also responsible for the religious instruction in schools for over three hundred children in the area. Reverend Murray answered questions and conducted hymns. Shirley Murray is a well known hymn writer and her hymns appear in several hymn books.
