Red noses return

Just when you thought it was safe to stick your nose out - Red Nose Day is back! Raising money to combat cot death, is again the goal of New Zealand's third red-nosed fun day, organised by the Cot Death Division of the National Children's Health Research Foundation. "So far, there have been fewer cot deaths in 1991 than in years pastbut continued research and education are needed to ensure that this continues," says national co-ordinator of the Cot Death Division, Dr Shirley Tonkin. "Research has shown us ways of reducing the risk of cot death - but sadly some babies whose parents have taken all the precautions, will still die. We need to find out why, and how those deaths can be stopped." Red noses are unaffected by inflation, and will be available at $2, along with noses for cars at $5,'T'm Too Chicken to Wear A Red Nose" badges at $3, and the newest item in the range - red nose hats at $1. Red noses and red nose accessories are

available from Pharmacy Guild chemists, Four Square and New World Supermarkets, Shell Shops, Mitre 10 stores and through volunteers, from Friday 2 August.
