Tongariro river on the rise?

King Country Energy lines staff will be turning off the power in parts of Turangi this Tuesday to allow the replacement of a pole that no longer provides an acceptable clearance above the ground. The pole hasn't got any lower - the Tongariro River bank has got higher - and King Country Energy are now concemed that fisherfolk may come in contact with the power lines with their rods.
