Women's Rugby

by

Lineout

In the Ladies rugby tournament played at Horricks Park at KaiwhaikiWanganui there was another festive occasion with a large crowd turning out to support the six teams in the Union. Raetihi were missing a few key players but were well covered with a few ladies who had never played before. Their game against Priates of Wanganui resulted in a 18-0 win to the locals with Michelle Kui, Sherry Hanseu and Katrina Hawina having good games. The forward pack with Missy Edmonds and Raema Mowatt leading is a formible unit. Sherry Hansen was the player of the tournament. In the Ohakune versus Wanganui Counties game the front row "Big Bad Mau" Korty Wilson and La AKapita was far too awesome for their Wanganui counterparts with Kim Burrows having a good game at lock. The local team is a skilled team and reputed to have the biggest front row, and they were able to hold the Wanganui team to a 6-16 loss, but this is an achievement because of the experience of the city team. The other game Wanganui Marist beat Taihape 24 -4.
