Scout vistors

Waiouru Scout and Guide Hall can be a quiet place, except when hosting a group of visiting Takapau Scouts from the central Hawkes Bay, all bound for fun and excitement on the snow. Saturday began well before dawn when the boys could not stand the excitement any longer and reluctantly the leaders and helpers were forced to begin the day. The weather was great, the skiing even better with everyone thoughly enjoying themselves.

They returned to Waiouru 10 hours later totally exhausted. Some boys were so tired they were kept awake long enough to have some tea then sent to bed. Sunday was slightly more relaxing with a tour of the Army Museum and a walk around the Army Camp showing the Military points of interest. The Waiouru Scout and Guide Hall is usually fully booked in the weekends during the ski season, but others prefer the warmer weather and tramping around Mt Ruapehu and Mt Ngauruhoe.
