SCALES

Most people in the local area may now be aware of the curfew imposed by the Commander ATG for the defence area, in an attempt to control the movement of the young unsupervised juveniles, and to get local juvenile offending down. Although a drastic measure to take, the necessity of imposing such a condition on

young persons roaming the street unsupervised, was again highlighted in the early hours of Saturday morning, when LCpl Galbrath of the Military Police apprehended three young people acting suspiciously around the AGI Canteen at 1.30am. They were found to be in possession of a large quantity of .snacks, chippies and soft drinks. Subsequent inquiries

discovered that a previously unknown burglary had occurred at the AGI Storeroom in which over $500 worth of items had been stolen. The offenders had stashed these goods at the rear of the canteen buildings. The burglary had occurred over a week previously and since that time various individuals had been supplementing their diet from the free 'tuck shop'.

Further inquiries by both the Military Police and ourselves, have resulted in the apprehension of a group of young persons who will now face prosecution of offences ranging from receiving to burglary and will be dealt with under the Childrens and Young Persons Act. • Inquiries are continuing with good progress into last weeks' armed incident involving Constable Pat Tasker and Traffic Officer Mike Lenihan. • A pleasing accident free weekend in our area with only one arrest, that of a Wellington man, for disqualified drivinp.
