Waiouru bank hours reduced
Many BNZ customers in Waiouru are asking why hours were reduced and will the bank later close. The changes began sometime ago when the BNZ lost a major business customer, NZ Defence, to a competitor bank. The bank was taken by surprise and had to rethink and reorganise it branches into making a profit. Waiouru itself never saw any changes until March this year, when the staff took a major drop in numbers. Manager, Craig Swinburne, transferred to Ohakune on a promotion and teller
Tina Parata resigned.Neither were replaced, leaving three people to carry the load of a busy service centre. Because of the low staff numbers it became impossible to continue having staggered lunchbreaks and the BNZ were forced to reduce hours so the staff could have a well deserved break."I ihink customers would rather have reduced hours than no BNZ at all," says Service Centre Supervisor, Barbara Romerill.BNZ headquarters has no plans at present to close the Waiouru Service Centre, she said.
