Regional rates reduced
Manawatu-Wanganui Regional rates for the 1991/92 period have an overall reduction from $9,350,327 for the 1990/91 period to $9,067,502. This is based on equalised capital value over the whole region and will result in a reduction in rates per $100,000 capital value of $13.11. Savings have been made in the cost of running Council with the budget for councillor's salaries having been reduced from $322,500 to $304,200 travel expenses from $65,000 to $55,000 and meeting fees from $175,000 to $75,100.
