Road rates

• It seems to me the cause of the rates 'blowout' in the RDC is simply the government isn't willing to spend the money we pay in petrol tax and road user charges on the roads we use. All very well, who can argue with the gods in Wellington? But if the cost of roading is the reason the rates in the Waimarino have jumped up surely in the 'north' the leap should have been astronomical. It seem obvious that our rates now must be assessed not only on the land value, but also the road value. In which case the northern road value is three times that

of the south which would even the rates burden no end.
